About
The J-Testr Supply Monitor Modules are used to accurately monitor & help protect up to 4 UUT power supplies from damaging over-voltage (OV) conditions. The internal circuitry is designed to be ‘high-speed’ such that the unit can detect and activate a J-Safe condition, which in-turn safely and quickly shuts down the test system, within tens of micro-seconds. This high-speed operation is typically fast enough to avoid any damage, short or long term, being caused to the UUT circuitry.
The high accuracy adjustable voltage threshold is configured using a simple precision resistor, to ground, to minimise circuit components. The Supply Monitor Module also include an ADC measurement multiplexer to allow up to 4 power supply voltages to be connected to a single ADC differential input. This powerful feature greatly simplifies signal routing, as well as allowing the ADC to be used to differentially measure up to 32 power supplies when using up to 8 modules. As UUT power supply voltages decrease the sensitivity to over-voltage conditions increases. This is because |
the allowed voltage range percentage tolerance means a smaller absolute voltage error that can cause damage. To mitigate this, the Supply Monitor Module circuitry has high accuracy fully differential measurement & high accuracy threshold setting capability.

The compact and simple mounting of the Supply Monitor Module means it can be located either locally, on the J-Testr interposer, or, in fixture applications, in a more remote location closer to the UUT connection pins. The module is supplied with plastic standoffs for mounting purposes.
The Power Monitor Module can be used to help protect high value, highly complex circuits that contain FPGA or Microprocessors that require multiple precision power rails to function. A block diagram is shown below of such an application:
