STANAG 4781 is a NATO standard for  smart defense products based on a standardized open architecture and common message set to support the “plug and play” integration of threat warning sensors and countermeasure effectors onto operational platforms.

A key part of the  STANAG 4781 is the Smart Stores Communication Interface (SSCI) specification. The SSCI enables in-flight communication and optimal use of smart expendables. It also enables automatic expendable type recognition and automatically logs payload logistic information, including air carriage life and use-by-date.

Eiger Design GmbH has been involved in the design, manufacture and test of ground and flight capable test equipment for many years. Eiger is a member of the STANAG 4781 Custodian Support Team (CTS).

SSCI Based bespoke Functional Test Equipment

Sometimes companies require very specific functional test solutions or do not require the universal setup provided by the COT J-Testr system. In such cases Eiger Design can produce bespoke customized solutions based on key testing building blocks and IP to achieve the customers test requirements.
​

​Often companies are tempted to do such tasks in-house but get trapped by limited resources and timescales, not to mention the documentation and support requirement such 'in-house' designs often demand. Eiger Design bespoke solution are all based on existing test IP which is well documented and tested in the field. 

Such bespoke test equipment can contain RF test elements and custom specific equipment to support  electronic based countermeasures and jamming devices. SSCI communications is supported with our  Dual SSCI Bus peripheral card.

SSCI expendables design consultancy services

Eiger Design is a product design company which involves all the engineering disciplines required to produce quality, functional and reliable equipment. Eiger Design have been involved with multiple military projects involving electronic warfare equipment following the customer appropriate design processes or, in some cases, using Eiger Designs own processes.
In the STANAG 4781 SSCI arena, Eiger Design have significant design knowledge gain from producing master and slave SSCI test equipment and implementing/producing a fully Stanag-4781 SSCI compliant Squib. Engineering our own squib enabled Eiger engineers to fully understand the production and test challenges our OEM customers face when producing Stanag-4781 SSCI products.

As such Eiger Design can offer their STANAG 4781 SSCI customers with extensive knowledge and experience to assist in the successful design of both Master and Slave SSCI products.

expendables ground Support Test Equipment


Using the IP and knowledge gained from our SSCI function test products and our military projects design experience, Eiger Design can support OEM SSCI product companies with ground test equipment solutions for use in service facilities (D-Level or I-Level Test/ Diagnostics/Programming) or at deployment bases (O-Level or I-Level Test/ Diagnostics).

​Such equipment is typically housed in weatherproof ruggedized carry boxes and attach to an external computer to run the Test/ Diagnostics/Programming software, however if the requirements demand can also include the test logic inside the unit itself.

Eiger Design work with the customer to meet the required technical requirements and can also help to construct the technical requirements based on higher level requirements. Typical ground support test equipment features are listed below:

  • Selectable Baud Rates (all 4 speeds)
  • Zener Diode threshold measurement
