Pylon Mass Interconnect
Eiger design NextGen systems and fixtures offer a ‘Pylon’ mass interconnect between the main fixture/system and the exchangeable unit. This allows quick and efficient plugging of the exchangeable unit. The ‘Pylon’ mass interconnect utilized connects directly to standard 40-way ribbon cables that offer both low-cost and significantly improved signal integrity characteristics compared to traditional wire wrapping techniques.

Each Pylon block allows three 40-way connections to pass through with the Midi fixture/systems having 4 pylon blocks and Max fixture/systems having 6 pylon blocks
J-Testr NextGen Max Systems
NextGen Max Systems are configured with a full set of six pylon interconnects that allow the complete set of J-Testr Core stimulation/measurement signals to be routed via the pylon mass interconnect to the exchangeable.

J-Testr NextGen Midi Systems
NextGen Midi Systems are configured with four sets of pylon interconnects that allow the standard set of J-Testr Core stimulation/measurement signals* to be routed via the pylon mass interconnect to the exchangeable.

The remaining optional stimulation/measurement signals* can be routed directly from the exchangeable unit to the J-Testr Cores interposer via a ‘direct wire’ interface block that locates to the bottom of the Exchangable Uint. This requires the test system to be opened and a ribbon cable manually plugged back to the interposer. The ‘direct wire’ plugging process takes under 5 minutes to complete when changing an exchangeable unit** and is only required if the optional stimulation/measurement signals are being used by the exchangeable being inserted or removed.
Notes:
* Other combination of signals can be configured to be routed via the four ‘Pylons’ as per the customer requirements
** All J-Testr NextGen exchangeable units have a safety interlock feature that locks the exchangeable until the ‘direct wire’ cables are unplugged to avoid damage to the cabling and connectors.
